Dear Diary,

Yesterday was April 29th, a national holiday in Japan called “Showa Day.” Despite such a holiday, Shinichi was able to wake up at 3:30 a.m. He explains it is almost like a wizard with the power of chrono-magic. In other words, he has developed a skill for maintaining his health through time management.

Shinichi takes medicine to prevent his epilepsy. For such reason, he was often drowsy in the daytime in his 20s. Additionally, Shinichi used to work at a newspaper shop and hotel. Therefore, he was frequently bothered by his sleepiness.

Shinichi discovered a knack for preventing his sleepiness. With this method, he shifted his schedule from fixed to flexible. He maintains a core sleeping time of six to seven hours. If Shinichi can’t sleep for at least six hours, he allows taking a nap within two hours. Furthermore, he has established a personal guideline to boost his productivity by tackling tasks like arranging his workspace, sorting out his documents, and perusing his reading material upon waking up at midnight. As a result, Shinichi could start to utilize his time more efficiently.

Most people may go to bed and get up from their bed at a fixed time. Also, most offices set their regulation works hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, some workplaces offer flexible time management. Workers allow beginning work at a time that suits them. In such companies, there may be designated core hours when all workers should stay to work in the office.

Shinichi refers to such a system for his time management. For this reason, even though he gets up at midnight, he can succeed in preventing his epilepsy.
