Shinichi woke up at 3:00 a.m. as usual. He took a shower and made up his impressions. There are several grocery stores within a five-minute walk from his living condominium. One of the stores opens around the clock. He frequently goes to this store to buy some groceries.

Shinichi has been officially diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and epilepsy. He is susceptible to sounds around him. For such reason, Shinichi often tends to catch all sounds around himself.

Shopping Issues for ADHD

One evening, Shinichi went to the supermarket to buy essential ingredients. That supermarket is vicinity. Most shoppers were waiting in line to pay at the cashiers or automatic cashless machines. Shinichi knows how to pay using such machines but also reveals one of his weak points – multitasking. To illustrate, if one shopper finished paying for their items, Shinichi always has to see the behaviour of that shopper carefully. Guess what? Most shoppers can distinguish what they would buy essential items. Conversely, Shinichi distracted his attention focused on individuals, items, and behaviours. Consequently, his brain processes a lot of information.

In general, males and females have different structures of the brain. For instance, individuals consider logical thinking by their left brain. In addition, they may feel their impressions (e.g. sounds, olfactory, lightness, and taste) through their right brain. Females are often better at using both brains than males due to connecting two hemispheres made by the corpus callosum(脳梁). Some multitaskers can do it well because they use both brains.

Routine Work Reduces Abandoned Information

Individuals with ADHD are typically associated with multitasking well. But their brains were always messy with much information. For such circumstances, routine works help their information. Shinichi couldn’t confirm his schedule well in his regular fixed time.

First, Shinichi needed to recognize his fixed and flexible expenditures. For this reason, he has tackled creating his visual money schedule. Shinichi has been writing his household books since 2008. In 2019, some Japanese financial companies introduced household accounting systems using web-based cloud technology. For such reasons, Shinichi shifted from his paper notebook to web clouding.

Generally, individuals with ADHD are not good at maintaining their financial schedule. However, Shinichi had already obtained basic computer literacy. A few examples are Microsoft Office software, Apple Mac computers, and Google Spreadsheets. In addition, Shinichi managed his income and expenditures using a notebook between 2009 and 2019. Combined with his computer and money literacies. Shinichi could obtain such skills and get hints at improving his financial literacy.
