Dear Diary,
April comes to an end. Many people in Japan start into Golden Week — a long vacation period that varies weeks depending on one’s job. Even Shinichi is looking forward to this break.
During Golden Week, most people hope to enjoy their precious time, such as travelling, driving, barbecuing, and shopping. However, they may struggle with many travellers, shoppers, and drivers.
Shinichi cannot drive due to his Autism Spectrum Disorder and Epilepsy, but he likes taking local bus trips and exploring suburban areas. He loves to make the most of it by predicting traffic, wait times, and peak hours. Shinichi recommends taking local buses on the holiday morning when they are less crowded with passengers.
Also, Shinichi often went on a trip during the off-peak time. His main reason is auditory hypersensitivity. His ears tend to catch most sounds and voices at the same time. Non-Autistic people can distinguish many sounds at the moment. But Shinichi takes time longer than Non-Autistic people. He analyzes each voice or sound that is comfortable for him. As a result, he often had fatigue in noisy places.
For such reason, Shinichi goes on a trip with avoiding peak time. As a result, he could enjoy travel as if watching art in a museum. He thinks this feeling would cherish.
