Portfolio for Autism (IELTS Task 2)

Q: Some companies hesitate to hire autistic people. On the other hand, companies can know their potential skills through their portfolio or manuscripts. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages? Write at least 250 words.

In most companies, recruiters check personalities through their resumes when they hire such a person. But some companies also can know their potential skills through the portfolio or manuscript. I believe this method is the best attempt to show their skills. This essay will explain the advantages of showing the portfolio or manuscript.

On the one hand, there are several drawbacks. First, some recruiters can not recognize their portfolio’s or manuscript’s value. In particular, autistic persons bring (or send) elaborate artwork. But some companies have no time to check such works. Consequently, some autistic people have been disappointed. Second, some companies have taken their skills. In other words, even though autistic people make such artworks, some companies authorize their skills as a company’s contribution and technology. As a result, some autistic people have thought these efforts went up in smoke.

On the other hand, autistic people can concentrate on making (or creating) elaborate artworks with outstanding. First, some visual thinkers can distinguish the shape slightly. For example, Kiyoshi Yamashita was one of the Japanese autistic artists. He depicted the detailed part of the train. For such reasons, some autistic arts are not in the world. Some persons who have been diagnosed with Asperger’s can measure the size of the room accurately. Some design companies can recruit his talents as an interior coordinator. As a result, companies could allow them.

In summary, portfolios and manuscripts are excellent artwork for autistic people, showing their skills to the company. Likewise, these artworks are good tools for companies to seek potential autistic people.
