Dear Diary,
On April 1st, Shinichi remembered his memories of when he was young.
Shinichi used to deliver newspapers when he was in his 20s. Around 2000, some job coaches recommended such jobs to persons with ASD in Japan. The primary reason workers do not need to communicate with other people.
Shinichi had engaged in this job for four years since 2000. But sometimes, he struggled that could not finish on time. In 2000, early morning, some condominiums opened their security entrance to receive delivery services. Also, delivers needed to post newspapers by the time that customers designated.
But in Hokkaido, some roads were icy and accumulated a lot of snow in winter. One day, Shinichi thought up an efficient idea for him. He liked listening to some music. He utilized non-stop dance music, such as EuroBeat, for measuring time instead the timer. For his first reason, such music is composed of sequential flow. Second, Shinichi noticed one of his autistic behaviours that can not suddenly stop his actions. Non-stop music fitted his features. As a result, Shinichi could improve his working speed.
On the other hand, Shinichi found there were several issues. First, he decreased his working memory. Human brains can not always do multiple tasks at one time. He could memorize the current location of some houses, apartments, and condominiums. But Shinichi sometimes needed to remember the changed living customers who moved. As a result, he recognized that music does not always help their work.
Nowadays, most newspaper shops have set their work regulations for banning delivering newspapers while listening to music. Of course, using music for measuring time wasn’t good, but this idea taught such an inconvenient situation hiding some business hints.
